I took a road trip up to Washington & Oregon with my Wife and my Daughter
to visit my older Son and some other family members in the Portland area.
We drove up Hwy. 5 and hit rain at the California/Oregon border
and it rained pretty much all the rest of the way up to Washington.
It fortunately cleared up a bit in the afternoon of the first day we were there
and I got this shot at the harbor in Port Orchard.
Saw some great flowers and architecture.
I used an ND filter here to get a little longer shutter time.
After that we headed back south and spent some time in Portland.
I got these next couple of shots at sunrise out along the Columbia River a little east of town.
Next we headed west to the coast and spent a day or two there
making a lot of stops and taking some photos.
The first one was of an abandoned smoke stack
on the outskirts of a small town we had passed through
and the bicycle was behind a shop in Cannon Beach.
While we were at Cannon Beach I took this next photo of my Wife and Daughter.
It was an attempt to recreate a favorite photo of mine taken on the same beach back in the early 1940s.
The second photo is of my Mom, (right), and Aunt hanging out at the same beach when they were teenagers.
We wound up at Yaquina Head late in the afternoon and stopped at the lighthouse.
If you look closely just a little to the left of the lighthouse,
you can see that I caught a little sun dog in the photo.
The second shot was at Yaquina Bay.
I hiked down to the surf as the sun was setting
and the ladies waited in the truck to keep from freezing their butts off.
just before I put the pedal to the proverbial metal
and hit Hwy. 5 for the rest of the trip home.
